Preparing for your baby’s first Black Friday and Cyber Monday

Preparing for your baby’s first Black Friday and Cyber Monday

With all of its amazing deals Black Friday and Cyber Monday can be as overwhelming as it is exciting. Multiply that by 10 if you are a new or expectant mom. You may ask yourself if Black Friday is even worth it. The truth is babies are expensive. Diapers, wipes, cribs, bottles, etc… The basics can cost a fortune.

Black Friday is a great time to stock up if you are expecting or have a new little one in your life. But if you don’t move fast, those deals can be bought up as soon as you see them. With the right research and preparation though, you’ll be able to snatch up some great bargains on all those essentials needed for motherhood.

1)    Prepare your list

When doing so you should break it down into the things that are the highest priority to lowest priority. Your high-priority items are those essential items that you can’t go a day without, such as diapers, wipes, or anything breastfeeding-related.

It’s always best to buy things like diapers and wipes in bulk, so make sure what you’re buying meets your standard of quality and is gentle on your baby’s skin. With ultrasoft and breathable nonwoven material, and no harmful additives or chemicals, BabyCozy’s Bouncy Soft diapers are a great choice for your little one to grow up with. Likewise, BabyCozy’s Coconut Nourish baby wipes nourish your baby’s skin as they clean, making them a good chemical and alcohol-free option to pair with the diapers. As a sub-brand of Momcozy, the #1 selling wearable breast pump brand in North America, BabyCozy’s products bring the same level of comfort and care to your little one.

Speaking of Momcozy, you’ll also need a reliable breast pump to keep up with your baby’s constant breastfeeding demands. Momcozy’s newly released S9 Proand S12 Pro offer hands-free convenience, effeiciency and comfort to suit any mom’s breast pumping and feeding needs.

2)    Set a budget and stick to it

This part is pretty self-explanatory. Unfortunately, most of us aren’t made of money. But it can be all too easy to get carried away from all the savings on Black Friday and Cyber Monday and spend way more money than you can afford. So before you decide you want to buy every single designer product for your baby, slow your roll and set a budget! You can set a little bit of flexibility within that budget but when it comes time for the shopping, you should stick to it.

3)    Do your due diligence

Generally a good idea for anything you buy, you should always do the research to understand what you’re buying. Research which brands or products best suit your needs and which to avoid. Read reviews, watch videos, and check out the brand’s social media pages.

4)    Do a price check

Not all sales and promotions are created equal. Be sure to compare prices between online and physical stores, and sales to retail prices. Also, do not assume that just because Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the biggest shopping holidays of the year, it rings true for every brand and product. Double-check to make sure there aren’t any other bigger sales throughout the year for any of the products you want to buy. Finally, you’ll want to check store purchase and return policies beforehand to make sure there aren’t any catches.

5)    Get a drop on all the deals

Taking full advantage of all the deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday is very much an art form. Sometimes to get the best deals you have to do some digging. You can start by setting up a watch list on Amazon for items that you want. You also don’t want to wait until the last minute to check out the ads. Keep a sharp eye out for online ads starting a month before, and sign up for email alerts.

Finally, as the big day approaches you’ll want to be ready to act fast. Select “Watch this deal” for items that you’re waiting to go live, and enable notifications from Amazon on your phone.

6)    Get started early

Whether you opt for Black Friday or Cyber Monday, you have to be ready to start early. Double-check what time stores open, be it physical or online, and plan your attack accordingly. Remember, in some cases deals start as early as midnight!

7)    Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

Finally, you’ll want to decide which holiday you’ll want to participate in. For most new and expectant moms there’s one obvious choice, at least on the surface. Cyber Monday is a great option for moms who don’t have the time or energy to brave the Black Friday crowds, especially if you’re sporting a baby bump or are still recovering from childbirth. You can find all the best deals from the comfort of your own home on your phone or computer, all while juggling mom duties.

However, Black Friday does have its advantages over Cyber Monday. Firstly, you can actually see and interact with the products before buying them, to get a better idea of their suitability to your baby’s or your needs. Next there’s the immediacy of not having to wait for your purchase to arrive at your home. Finally, if you can afford it, you can double that savings goodness and shop on both days.

Just know, if you are brave enough to hit the stores on Black Friday, make sure you’re actually physically capable of doing it, and make the proper arrangements beforehand if you are with child. Having a shopping partner is always a good idea for sharing the load with you, and don’t push yourself too hard to sweep up every saving. After all, there’s always Monday!

Final thoughts

Whether you’re a new or soon-to-be mom, hopefully you’re feeling confident and excited going into the greatest shopping holiday of the year. “Black Friday and Cyber Monday bring a lot of great deals on those essential items that every new parent needs,” says BabyCozy representative Cherry Yeow. “But it can be overwhelming navigating everything to get the right thing for your little one, and at a good price.” Yeow continued, “As long you do the research on the right products and deals beforehand, and only stick to those items that are the most gentle to your little one, then you can consider your holiday shopping a success!”
