Let Your Outer Beauty Reflect Your Inner Beauty

What is Smartlipo?

Smartlipo is an office procedure, under local anesthetic, often with some oral sedation (but not always) that through the use of very small incisions, (3 mm) a fiber optic laser is inserted directly into the fat, in order to melt it. Then the fat is liposuctioned away. This is a very effective method for fat reduction.

Are you a good weight for
Laser Lipo/Smartlipo?

You should ideally be within 15-20% of your ideal body weight, though for a few select patients above that weight, very good results can be achieved.

What is your skin tone like?

You need to have some skin tone with Smartlipo to get a nice result. It is true that you do get some skin tightening with Smartlipo, but only a relatively small amount. If you have a lot of loose skin on your abdomen, you will probably need a tummy tuck. One of the great advantages in going to a board certified plastic surgeon for your Smartlipo is that they can offer other techniques such as a tummy tuck or an arm lift.

Are your expectations realistic?

Many patients have achieved very significant improvements from Smartlipo. It will decrease fat but it will not change your weight very much. It will give you a better body contour. For most people to get their best results, it is best to improve your diet and/or increase your level of exercise in order to lose some weight. Smartlipo can give you a very nice improvement; especially in those difficult areas to lose fat.

Are you patient enough to
wait for results?

You will continue to improve for six months after your Smartlipo. Sometimes you can see changes by two weeks and for many other patients, it can take two months before you start to see the difference. You will continue to improve, for the next six months, provided you do not put on weight after the procedure. It is recommended to see patients for follow-ups at two weeks, and then at two, four and six months.

When can you exercise again?

You may shower the next day and go for walks and drive. However, you should take five days off from working out very hard.

Can I afford it and time
off from work?

The great news is that virtually everyone goes back to work the next day. Smartlipo is quite affordable for most people and most offices offer financing. At the time of your complementary consultation, your plastic surgeon will give you a written quote with all costs involved, depending on the number of areas you chose to have done.
