Facial Rejuvenation It's Not Just Surgery Anymore
Many patients looking for facial rejuvenation have often thought that major surgical procedures were necessary. For some, this is still true. But for many, there are newer less invasive techniques that can enhance one's appearance with not only little or no downtime, but also less cost.
The most rapidly growing areas in plastic surgery today are less invasive techniques, injectable fillers and Botox.
Among these choices, patients today have a multitude of ways to rejuvenate the face and body with less recovery time than ever before.
Have you ever heard, “You look angry.” or “Why do you always frown?” To obtain a fresher, less “angry” appearance and to soften natural wrinkles that we make when animating, there's Botox. Botox is a unique product that, when injected, helps eradicate wrinkles by temporarily disabling select muscles.
Typically used in the frown area between the eyebrows, the forehead and “crow's feet” wrinkles on the sides of the eyes, Botox can dramatically improve the wrinkled lines that many see in the mirror. Lasting approximately 3-5 months, Botox is often performed in conjunction with many of the following products as well.
Some may have wrinkles in addition to those that can be treated by Botox. That is where injectable fillers come in. These include products such as Juvederm, Voluma, and Belotero. Each of these unique fillers can improve smile lines, cheek hollowing, jowl lines and even augment the lips to name a few applications.
Injected in an office setting with minimal discomfort, patients can return to work or home with minimal signs of “work”.
Juvederm and Belotero will typically last eight months to one year and Voluma up to two years. None of these fillers requires any pre-testing injection or allergic desensitization as the collagen injections of the past required.
Other exciting areas in the realm of plastic surgery include minimally invasive surgical techniques. With the advent of treatments such as ThermiTight (radiofrequency energy that tightens the deeper tissues), there is an armamentarium at the surgeon and patient's disposal.
Less downtime and quicker recovery allows patients to get back in their life with a fresher, more youthful appearance.
While not every patient is a candidate for any and all of these treatments, with a proper consultation, the appropriate method can be selected.
A board certified plastic surgeon can help you decide which procedure for facial rejuvenation suits your needs and body type.
Facial rejuvenation spans a wide array of techniques and procedures, fillers and injectables. If a refreshing look and quick recovery are what you are looking for, there are many options available and it's not just surgery anymore.
