Sedation Dentistry Relaxed and Comfortable

Getting regular high quality dental care is one of the most important things you can do for yourself. Your mouth is the window to your body and scientific studies continue to show strong connections between what goes on in your mouth and the rest of your body.

Yet approximately 145 million people (1/3 of the population) who suffer from dental anxiety never see a dentist. They know they need to go, but would rather risk their health than conquer this fear. As a result, they often experience unnecessary pain, are unable to chew their food properly, and increase their risk of infection and serious health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.

Why are so many afraid?

Most people are afraid, not because of some serious psychological problem but simply because of a natural reaction to a previously bad experience. Perhaps they have a fear of needles or difficulty getting numb and weren't listened to by the dentist. Or maybe they have a bad gag reflex, or sensitive teeth. Some just have an aversion to the sounds, smells, or tastes associated with dentistry. Or dread the thought of sitting in the chair for a long time or for several visits.

What's the answer?

Whatever the reason, thanks to sedation dentistry, people with dental anxiety no longer have to suffer in agony and discomfort. With oral conscious sedation, those who previously avoided the dentist, can now simply take a pill, wake up to a beautiful new smile, and leave with little to no memory of
the visit.

How does it work?

After taking a pill an hour before their appointment, the sedation patient is driven to the office where they arrive calm and relaxed. Once in the office, they are taken to the treatment room where they are covered with a warm blanket and allowed to sink into a special pillow-like mattress especially designed to fit the dental chair.

Treatment begins when the patient is absolutely comfortable and relaxed. The dentist and dental assistant remain with the patient the entire time they are sedated, attending to their needs and ensuring their safety and comfort.

Often years of dentistry can be completed in as little as one visit. Though the patient feels like they have slept through the appointment, they will actually be able to respond to simple commands and questions. And when they wake up, they will retain little or no memory of their experience.

So stop avoiding the dentist. Get up the courage, make that call and wake up to a beautiful smile and a healthier you.
