Losing Teeth From Gum Disease Is Preventable
Inappropriate dental hygiene
habits usually cause periodontitis.
Cause: Inappropriate dental hygiene habits usually cause periodontitis (AKA gum disease). Periodontitis is a type of disease, which involves infection, inflammation, and recession of the gums. Over time, when food plaque is not totally removed or cleaned in the gap between teeth and its surrounding gums, bacteria and tartar build up causing infected gums.
Effects: Gradually, the gums start to pull away from the teeth. If left untreated, the bone and teeth’s supporting tissues break down, causing teeth to become loose. Receding gums will expose more roots, and thus, teeth could fall out during normal daily activities. According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, half of American adults aged 30 or older have gum (periodontal) disease. If you have experienced the effects of gum disease you are not alone.
Solutions: Treatments for gum recession vary from using different types of composites such as tooth-colored resins and pink porcelain to fill the gaps or cover the root, to Orthodontics and dental surgery. Although periodontal treatments can be invasive or ineffective, laser treatment has had a high success rate and short recovery times.
Lasers have become so advanced that the treatment of gum disease is done without much pain or discomfort. Laser therapy utilizes different wavelengths of light to access an inflamed area to kill bacteria and remove infected tissues. Infected areas and the calculus are effectively removed without damaging healthy tissue. Then, the healing process regenerates the lost bone, tissue and ligaments around the tooth.
Benefits of the laser treatment:
Non-Invasive
Shorter Recovery Time
Highly Successful Rate
Little to No Bleeding
No Drill
No Injection
Preserve Healthy Tissue
The advanced laser system utilizing the highest level of laser dentistry technology is the Er:YAG and Nd:YAG Combo. These systems are capable of delivering many distinctive treatments from general, to cosmetic, to orthodontics dentistry. The benefits are highly-successful, less to no pain, no injection, no drill, no surgery, no bleeding, and shorter recovery time.
Advanced laser treatment has the restorative ability for bone regeneration. Not only does this technique kill the bacteria causing gum diseases, generate healthy tissues growing back, it also help regenerates lost bone and support the teeth from falling out.
