What Is CBD?
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a compound found in the cannabis plant. THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is found in the same plant. Both are chemicals called cannabinoids.
Unlike THC, CBD is completely non-intoxicating. CBD may provide benefits from the health properties of the cannabis plant without the effect of getting high. CBD is safe over the counter and does not have known negative side effects.
How Does CBD Work?
Many people have found that CBD can help maintain health and wellness as CBD interacts with receptors in our body. In the 1980s and 1990s, scientists discovered that our bodies need, and are designed to use, chemicals called cannabinoids. Our body makes some of these on its own – these are called endocannabinoids.
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) helps us maintain balance. For example, when we are stressed, our brain releases a hormone, which gives the body a burst of energy to fix a problem. Too much of this stress hormone is bad for us. Our body uses endocannabinoids to deal with stressful situations with a clear mind, to make good decisions, and to de-stress after the emergency is over. The ECS helps to regulate memory, appetite, energy balance and metabolism, immune function, sleep, body temperature, and many other major functions of our body and mind also.
CBD is a cannabinoid. It helps our body absorb endocannabinoids and locks the enzymes that break them down. Thus gives our body some outside help to maintain or restore its balance.
What Are the Benefits of Taking CBD?
CBD offers a wide range of benefits. The FDA has approved CBD for treatment of a special kind of rare epilepsy. CBD is often used for its anti-inflammatory, calming, analgesic, and antioxidant properties.
Many consumers of CBD state that it helps them in pain management, stress and anxiety management. Many find it useful in post-surgical pain management and a good alternative to opioid pain killers.
More advanced CBD product are based on nanotechnology. Scientists have found a way to make very small CBD molecules water-soluble by coating the molecule with a surfactant. Emulsification of CBD oil by application of nanotechnology makes CBD molecules even smaller. Water-soluble nanotechnology CBD molecules are less than 100 nanometers in size. To compare sizes, a human hair is about 100,000 nanometers in diameter. Researchers have found out that smaller nanomolecular CBD has higher bioavailability and faster absorptions in our gastrointestinal tract. In fact, absorption starts right under the tongue. The absorbed CBD nanomolecule enters the bloodstream very quickly to spread throughout the body, including the central nervous system. You will feel the effects of CBD much quicker, and the effect should last longer.
You can add nanotechnology CBD products in any drink like coffee, tea, milk, juice, water, beer, soft drinks, etc. You can also add this CBD product into ice cream, yogurt, fruit cups, smoothies, milkshakes, or cold cooking. Nanotechnology CBD can also be placed directly under your tongue.
Although nanotechnology CBD products are slightly more expensive, because of their bioavailability and absorption efficiency, nanotechnology CBD is absorbed at five times the rate of traditional oils making them very cost effective. Some research participants have absorbed almost 100% of their CBD dose.
Consumers should be cautious in buying CBD products as there are a plethora of inferior quality products with spurious material available in the market.
