Easy Tips For Clear Skin You Can Start Today
Irrespective of your skin type, a daily skin care routine can not only help overall skin health but treat specific conditions like dark spots, scarring and acne too.
Knowing your skin type is also important, as using the wrong product in a cosmetic outlet for your type of skin could do more harm than good by worsening the symptoms.
This blog will help you establish a clear skin care routine, treat the underlying concerns and the right products to choose the right product for healthy clear skin.
Establishing a daily skin care routine
An ideal skin care routine has four basic steps which should be followed once in the morning and then again before going to bed. They include:
- Moisturizer: One of the most simplest ways to get a clear complexion is through hydration and moisturizing as they both help in acting as a skin barrier to preserve the youthful appearance.
- A face cream and a hydrating light-weight face moisturizer can nourish the skin and protect it against the elements by locking in the moisture. Use a lightweight formula for oily skin and a deeply penetrating formula for dry skin to meet the unique needs of your skin type.
- Serums: A serum containing peptides or vitamin C would be the better choice in the morning, while at night prescription retinoids or retinol will work best.
- Cleansing: After washing, apply a cleanser that doesn’t cause your skin to tighten. Clean your once a day but never more than twice and don’t wear any makeup.
- Sunscreen: Apply only sunscreen with minimum 30 SPF fifteen minutes before heading out as it takes that much time for the lotion to activate. Use extra protection for a dark skin as hyperpigmentation is difficult to correct.
Skin care products
Make doubly sure you read the labels before purchasing and buy the one that suits your skin type and sensitivity. See how your skin reacts and once you find them comfortable add extras like exfoliants, masks etc to further boost skin health. If you have sensitive skin, do a patch test to help identify any allergic reaction.
Avoiding skin care. problems
There are ways and means to tackle skin problems without causing any damage to the skin, but the number one thing to refrain from is picking. This is because picking on blackheads and acne can cause open wounds which can lead to infection or dark spots due to hyperpigmentation.
Moreover these issues can take months or even years to subside and fade. Immediate treatment for scars and blemishes include using makeup and screen avoid sun damage.
Other ingredients known to treat face scars are silicone, honey, vitamin C, niacinamide and retinoid acid. Look for products with these ingredients and add them to your skin care routine daily, but after washing your face.
Seek expert help
If your skin problems do not go away with over the counter medications then you should consult a dermatologist as severe cases may need prescription treatment such as antibiotics or prescription retinoids.
