A Flatter Tummy

The rectus abdominus is the muscle of the mid stomach that holds it all in. This muscle gets bumps and is often referred to as a washboard abdomen. After pregnancy, these two muscles often separate. No amount of exercise will ever bring them together.
An abdominoplasty, also known as tummy tuck, not only gets rid of all the extra skin below your belly button and the little fatty pouch there, but it achieves the almost miraculous tightening of these two muscles. A simple way to test whether or not you have this problem is to lay on your back, raise your head without raising your shoulders and tighten your belly with your knees bent. This is called the abdominal crunch. If this is followed by an immediate bulge up and down your abdomen, then you have it. The dreaded diastasis redti can only be put back together surgically.
People can get a flat stomach if they have a tummy tuck. It is an outpatient procedure that can be performed locally. After a tummy tuck gives you a flat stomach, dieting and exercising can be more productive.
Abdominoplasty is not a weight reduction method. Frequently, however, dieting and exercise alone cannot correct certain conditions, particularly when underlying muscles, as well as skin, are stretched after multiple pregnancies.
Loss of skin elasticity, which frequently occurs with slight obesity, is another condition that can be improved.
Abdominoplasty is usually performed in the hospital under general anesthesia.
The most frequently employed technique is a transverse incision across the lower abdomen, just above the pubic hair. A second incision is made to free the umbilicus from the surrounding skin so it will remain undisturbed. Skin is separated from the abdominal wall and elevated above the ribs. The surgeon then pulls loose tissue covering the abdomens large muscles towards the center of the abdomen and sutures it together. This tightens muscles, provides a firmer abdominal wall and narrows the waist line. The elevated skin is lowered and excess removed.
The surgeon makes an open-
ing for the belly button. It is reinstated, creating a new naval where the
old one had been. Incisions are closed with a series of sutures and a firm
elastic dressing. After the surgery, there is soreness and discomfort, which is easily controlled by medication.
Elimination of sagging skin and excess fatty tissue results in a firmer and flatter abdominal appearance and a narrow waist line.
In considering a plastic surgeon, one should look for a surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. The best way to choose a plastic surgeon is to come in for a consultation. The best patient is the one who comes for a consultation with a list of questions. This shows that the patient is serious about the surgery and diligent in his/her selection.
Another way of selecting a plastic surgeon is to call the local hospitals and find out who has privileges to do this procedure at the hospital. Hospitals are much more careful in their credentialing process than offices and clinics that perform surgery on site.
